Kers Mcleod is selftaught.
Began painting in 1993 on the walls of her house.
To begin with the form housed colour.
Colour dictated form.
Now, in this new series - FOSSILS - the colour has broken out of the form altogether.
The colour is vibrant, the canvas seems to be lit from within.
The handcarved printblocks are pressed into the colour to create instant antiquity.
The fossils of our civilization - cars, cities, cassettes and maps - our inorganic mark on this planet, become organic in the process of becoming fossils. The concrete, pavement and metal we build our civilization of is quickly and easily overcome by the green growing out of the planet itself and the only mark left of the icons of our age have themselves become organic - FOSSILS | |
