Alfred Villeneuve
Alfred Villeneuve paints his world in a striking technique. The colours are vibrant, the work has a quality of magical realism, and we believe he is a young artist to watch.
Alfred G. Villeneuve volunteer's regularly within his community, Kichisippirini, Algonquin, in Pembroke and Barry's Bay
The paintings in the exhibition are a combination of en plein air and studio works, created during Villeneuve's daily searches in the landscapes of Ottawa Valley and Algonquin Park. His distinctive application of paint, combined with compelling subject matter, and a highly personal vision, make his work immediately recognizable and at the same time highly accessible, continuing a fine tradition in Canadian landscape art.
IN HIS OWN WORDS

Dedication
Every journey has a beginning and usually a dedication,.. this is that dedication.
This journey/journal is dedicated to the joy and suffering it took to get here, to my partner and wife Margaret, to my family and friends who have encouraged and supported me in the discovery through my art.
I dedicate to the Great Spirit, the fruits of the gift of which I was given.
I dedicate this journey's path to Margaret. As I struggle, I know of the personal struggle she endures every day.
Finally, I dedicate this journal to my mother Evelyn, my father Alfred E. and all my relations.

Spring 2009
The weather is warming here, the Bonnechere River out front of our house is almost clear across and Golden Lake shows signs of releasing from Winters grip. I will be out at the cabin site in Wilno shortly to cut a few more logs for the roof of the little cabin I am slowly building...
more to come.
Education
Self Taught.
'Through the kinetic memories embedded in my DNA from my father and his ancestors, I continue to ply the trails and waterways of our ancestors homeland (treaty area)
recording with knowledge that things in motion, life death, construction and birth, destruction and death.
Saturated motion, in colour gives life..., animated for all time!.'
