Observations: This jaunt held out much promise from the start as we canoed into a rainy Farm Lake (Shall Lake access pt.). Managed to beat the bugs back enough to create a little painiting before sunset. Camp was very dark, wet, cold and unfriendly, but in our usual fashion, we made the most of it. Got a roaring fire going to heat and light up the place and settled in to paint the bruised ,swollen sunset and swat bloodsuckers.
Next day, turned into a magnificient day, we travelled back somewhat and into Crotch Lake. Although incredibly close to the acess point, it served up a great base camp from which we ranged right up to the Opeongo River to Shall Lake at the opposite end.
Managed to get several good paintings done here and about. One, done right at our base camp provided the inspiration to create the studio work. It was the sheer quietude of the image and moment, that captured my heart and mind. A solitary flicker of a moment, captured forever, it's like holding your breath, fearing the moment as well as the feeling will be gone..
