Observations: A large paper-supported image, repeated throughout Carl's career - the cross-shaped mask toys with Christian iconography, but is in fact a Hopi ceremonial costume, which refers to his time spent living and working in the Southwest of the USA. The enigmatic imagery draws the viewer in without providing an easy explanation of its mysteries. A strongly shamanic theme, as the title would indicate.
