The Six Nations artists have a long been renown for sculpting in stone and bone: Joseph Jacobs, Duffy Wilson, Tom Hill, Jacob Thomas, Cleveland Sandy, The Henry's.Principally they carve in steatite and use as images spirit beings: Members of the False Fase Society, formerly carved as masks to be used in Shamanistic actions. Each of these totem figures has a name and function in the mythology. They compared favourably with the Fallen Angels of Christianity.
They were strong, angry, benificent, and required attention and acceptance. If you followed the proscribed dictum you were rewarded. If you failed to follow the myth rule you were punished or not rewarded.
These sculptures represents a Woodland Myth World of Spirit Beings and Familiars with the power to bring the supplicant to Manitou, The Almighty.
